Support role and responsibilities

I‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ was filmed teaching a class of 5/6 year olds in school my lecturer has watched the video – I can send you this, its very boring! I will send the lesson plan. I now need to explain WHY I taught this lesson (based on the UK national curriculum) and then explain in my reflection what went well and what could have been better. Rationale for the Activity • What is the reason for your activity? Make links to the national curriculum (2014) explaining how you propose to meet the children’s holistic needs (LO2)
• How does your practice relate to theory studied in the module? • What will your role and responsibility be during the activity? (LO1 – Link to HLTA standards) In the rational need to explain that This lesson was done in the middle of Covid lockdown with 15 children (normally 30 in a class) age groups year one and two, from three different classes. They were not with their normal pears, teacher or in their normal classroom. They were not using the normal RE books & I didn’t have a set of lolly sticks for the specific children nor did they have the normal class talk partners.
Due to Covid I didn’t have my normal planning time so I wasn’t fully prepared for the lesson in terms of having time to look over the plans before delivering. https://homeworkharbour.info/papers On reflection this lesson would’ve been much better had I have looked at it before teaching. During the lesson I linked the advent candle to our school values please add this. School values and a strong ethos should underpin all that we do as HLTAS.
School values can help pupils understand right from wrong and they can also help to shape the mindsets and behaviour of future adults (please find a reference to back this up) I used props for the children to give the children a visual to try and imagine what 85 meters would really be like. And also went up in small numbers to large numbers to try to visualise what the lights would be like. ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ Positives to the observation all children were involved I chose different children at different times to answer questions. https://homeworkbay.info/content/
Due to the lessons I talked beforehand the children had good prior knowledge of advent and what the lesson was going to be about. Use skinner as a theorist to link operational conditioning with my lesson – promoting positive behaviour by praising the children when they got the answer correct. Information for your reflective evaluation: • Your typed reflective evaluation will be completed after the activity and submitted with both parts • Please include references, following the Harvard Referencing conventions Resources to Support Planning:
• Please use Development Matters, & national curriculum (2014) to support you in planning your activity – reference this • Make links to the HLTA standards Please use shons reflective model for my reflection – what went well? What could I have improve? Reflective Evaluation: Questions to consider: • Was the intended learning achieved? Was any other learning identified? Make links to the EYFS and the national curriculum and how practitioners can meet children’s holistic needs (LO2)
• What support role and responsibilities did you or any other adult have? Discuss this (LO1) • How were the HLTA standards met? (LO3) Not all standards need to be met, however identification of specific standards in each section is encouraged. • professional attributes (standards 1–7) – these set out the attitudes, values and commitment expected of HLTAs • professional knowledge and understanding (standards 8–16) – these set out the knowledge and skills needed by HLTAs to be able to work effectively with colleagues as part of the professional team supporting learning, and • professional skills (standards 17–33) – these set out the expectations for planning, monitoring, managing and evaluat‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ing learning within the framework of guidance
