This will allow you to delve deeper in to an artistic area of your own interest.
•Part 1 Start this project by choosing a media to investigate. The media will be the focus of the project, and

PART 2 Research One artist per week that works in your chosen media
Example Artists: Lewis Hine, Paul Stand, Ansel Adams Nan Goldin, Cindy Sherman;
How did they use the media to create their unique vision?
If you chose to start with an Individual artist you must look at the artist and their work in context of the time
they were creating work.Artist must be a recognized artist with an exhibition history and biography.
Example Jean-Michele Basquiat;
Context: 1970-1980’s And the use of all the different media he explored.
I have a list of artists to help narrow your choices.
The PDF of Artist is attached.
• For your projects you will need visual images of that artists work, historical information about the era
artistic movement/style.
• All images included must be proper cited as well as bibliography of all resources and references.

Context: What else is going on that the arts influenced or influenced the art (wars,
discoveries, religious movements. How did WW1 affect the art world? Marcel
Duchamp was involved in DADA an artistic movement from 1916 – 1923. This multi-media movement was
connected to the disruption of the view of the world.

What is the driving force or motivation for the artists work?
For both include examples of the other arts form of that time, Poetry, Plays, Architecture Music.
For either approach you have a variety of choices of how you present the project. This is meant to be an
opportunity to be creative in your presentation of information. These are
suggestions.
If you have ideas of your own Fabulous! Just run them past me first I may have some helpful ideas
To build your understanding of the concepts presented during this class you will need to apply
those ideas.
Your Investigations will be Graded on Content and Visual Presentation:
You will have to do a search for the images suggested in these projects start with the list of websites.
How you organize and present it physically is up to you, but remember that this is a course in visual concepts

In the WOA Carnival: Rio Samba School, Brazil Pindellhas use a rectangular shaped canvas with irregular
curved edges. The work is dominated by pink paint.Embedded in the paint are many dots some completely
covered in paint others seem to be on surface in colors of light and medium blue, bright green, paler pink,
redand rings of orange all moving around the cloud like canvas. Along with the dots are diagonal lines some
straight some squiggle in the pink paint and around the dots.
