An Environmental studies project

There are two assignments to complete for this course. The intention is that they are connected and you will build towards the final assignment through the first. The overall intent of the assignments is for you to develop a model or proposal for an ecotourism event, activity or facility. This proposal should consider the ecological benefits and impacts of the venture, the social impacts and benefits as well as the economic costs and benefits. Some considerations in your proposal will be the target audience (e.g. hard or soft tourists, age group, education, etc.), the marketing from an environmental point of view and other topics relevant to the course. If you are having trouble thinking of an activity or experience to write about then skim through the text for ideas. Also in the discussion groups you will be examining various examples of ecotourism activities which may give you ideas for your project. If you are still having trouble, you can pattern your assignment after one you have described on the web. Be aware that these are connected, but separate assignments. It is expected that you will reuse ideas and, perhaps, sources, from your first assignment in your second assignment. However, you may not reuse sections of text from one assignment in the other assignment (i.e. do not “cut and paste” from one assignment into the other one).
