Upon completion of this piece of coursework, a student will be able to:

 LO3 recognise and analyse the fundamental concepts and emergent issues of contemporary HRM practices

 Ability to identify challenges and opportunities related of Talent Management practices
 Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of Talent Management practices
 Clearly recognise the core Talent Management practices
 Provision of sound proposals/suggestions supported by academic evidence
 General structure and quality presentation of arguments (based on HR theory)
 Use of mostly post-2016 sources
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
All students are required to carry out the following tasks in relation to the coursework development:
1) Review the Talent Management practices in the academic literature (minimum 15 academic articles)
2) Explore the relation between Talent Management practices and firm performance
3) Justify the significance of each Talent Management practice to the firm’s strategy
4) Students should try to use current literature, the majority of which should be academic articles post-2016.
Sources and citations must be referenced according to the Harvard Referencing System (utilise the Harvard Reference System: http://librarydevelopment.group.shef.ac.uk/referencing/harvard.html).
Students who wish to send a Draft may submit one until ten days before final submission date. Drafts sent after this deadline will not be accepted.

SUBMISSION
Students are expected to submit:
a. All parts of the essay should draw upon accessed literature
b. The assignment will be submitted through TURNITIN plagiarism detection software at:
www.turnitin.com at a date no later than the submission date. This is an absolute requirement for
releasing a mark. Brief instructions on how students can set up their profile and submit their work can be

c. Assignments should be max. 1,050 words long (excluding: Abstract, Table of Contents, tables,
graphs/spreadsheets, Reference List). There will be a penalty of 10% for those essays shorter or
exceeding the word limit by 10%. In case the word limit has been exceeded by more than 20%, the essay
will get a mark of 0.
d. Indicative structure:
1) Title Page (separate page)
2) Abstract (separate page)
3) Table of Contents (separate page)
4) Introduction (In which students will explain the purpose of the essay as well as its structure)
5) Review (In this section students should present the existing literature review and discuss the
emerging issues from them)
6) Discussion (In this section students should justify the significance of each Talent Management practice
to the firm’s strategy)
7) Conclusions
8) Reference List (following the Harvard Referencing System)
e. Essays should be written using the Times New Roman font at a size of 12 and with 1.5 spacing
between lines. There should be clear spacing between paragraphs (Paragraph spacing 6 pt), sections and
subsections. The assignment must have a Departmental cover sheet attached.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ALL THE ABOVE CRITERIA WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE
STUDENT’S OVERALL MARK.
Late submissions are subject to a 5% penalty for each day of delay. Any essays submitted after 7 days
from the submission date will get a mark of 0.
