Lie detection is an important topic in psychology and law and it is among the areas that are used in psychology. It is not hard to identify the reason why it is essential to know if one is lying or telling the truth during police cases which involves court trials, criminal and intelligence interviews (Vicianova, 2015).

Telling lies as well as other types of deception are consistent characteristics of human social behavior. In order to enhance lie detection, psychologists as well as practitioners are required to come up with a way of detecting the lies. These tools tend to implement the whole possible solutions such as; assessing the behavior, speech, and evaluating peripheral physiological feedback to recording the activity of the brain. Lie detection is a part of some criminals, clinical or legal professions. The police are challenged by deception mostly in the identification of facts in crimes which have been carried out. Judges and lawyers search for justice in legal issues as well as medical professionals require the facts for effective diagnosis and productive management of patients.
Today, the police are facing challenges associated with deception majorly in the identification of facts in crimes that have been conducted. There are little or no reliable methods to deception. Therefore, there are no techniques that can be used to differentiate the erroneous perspective as well as other forms of emotional expression. Therefore, this is a challenge mainly when one attempts to account for contextual factors and also motivational influences. There are a number of issues associated with the inability to differentiate between the genuine and deceptive information (Goswami, et al., 2016). In addition, there are limited studies on the issue of pertaining the available methods of detecting lies in forensic investigations. The main aim of the Capstone Project will be to identify the available methods that can be used to enhance lie detection in forensic psychology. We shall as well consider the elements that should be considered when developing a lie detector.
