Quincy has been working for 20 years with reasonable success in residential real estate sales. He is tired of this business, though he has earned a good living and built a nest egg. He is now ready to launch a new start-up business in partnership with his brother, John. Their vision is a new product for a sustainable clean energy source for use in small to mid-size residential homes and apartments and in mobile homes. People would be able to use this for running their appliances and basic lighting in fixed home settings and complete energy needs in mobile home use. John’s idea is to start out marketing the product for emergency use and disaster relief situations and develop it for a broader daily living use after they are established in the market. Quincy wants to launch immediately into full range of capabilities of the product. 1. Discuss the five theories of entrepreneurship in the context of this scenario. 2. Consider and briefly outline the initial hurdles of the new business for launching the product. 3. Recommend whether John or Quincy has the better approach, and why.
