Library Sources

Library Scavenger Hunt

Note: The research you are doing for this assignment will coincide with your second paper. In other words, I’m giving you credit for doing your works cited that you would have had to do anyway.

Today, using the library’s catalog and digital databases as research tools, you will find five (5) sources that could provide relevant information (contextual or otherwise) to your paper topic. Using your word processor, you will provide a brief summary of each work justifying why and/or how it might be useful in relation to your paper. You might want to print the materials off or check them out of the library so you have them available to you when composing your paper. You are not required to use the sources that you find in your paper should you choose not to.

Again, you must:
1. Locate five (5) sources;
2. Produce a correct MLA citation for each one;
3. Provide a 100+ word summary of each source in which you justify its usefulness;
4. & submit a copy of your assignment to the dropbox by the assigned due date.

Remember to consult Purdue OWL for citation guidelines and formatting requirements. Your scavenger hunt should look something like this when you are finished (see me if you have questions):

Works Cited

Mitchell, David, and Sharon Snyder. Narrative Prosthesis: Disability and the Dependencies of Discourse. Michigan UP, 2000.
Summary: This source deals with David Mitchell and Sharon Snyder’s concept of “Narrative Prosthesis.” The crux of their theoretical model hinges on the assertion that authors use disability to necessitate narratives (humor, empathy, achievement, etc.). This source appears useful and relevant to my paper topic, as I’m going to be exploring the role of disabled dramatic characters in my essay. I am hoping to apply this to my analysis of able-bodied and disabled characters and how the two classifications are similar.
