MGMT Airport Research Project
Airport Research Project will be based on a domestic commercial services airport of your choice. The purpose of the airport research project are to Illustrate that you have a clear understanding of the management of airports, to describe operational systems, airside, landside, function and role of an airport in the community, to identify operational, environmental and political issues with possible solutions, including various factors regarding public acceptance the economic importance of the airport, and to demonstrate knowledge of airport planning and budgeting and the applicable regulatory guidelines and the security program of an airport.

Pictures, diagrams, graphs, and tables are encouraged and will strengthen our paper however; there are limitations of using rich text format instead of Word format. RTF will not support diagrams, photos, and some tables. Every graphic and table must have a caption, source, and must be discussed in the main body.
Your final paper will be submitted using Turnitin, a plagiarism prevention tool.
Length: 10-12 pages (excluding the abstract, title page, and references page).

After you submitted your first part of the airport research project, that should serve as an introduction to your final paper.

· Airport Airside – Write the second chapter of your Airport Research Paper, your airport’s airside. This is a great opportunity to incorporate a table or two into your paper. The report should be a minimum of two pages in length (not including the reference page). Progress Check on Week 3, By this time you will have written until this part.
· Airport Landside – You are going to describe your airport’s landside, with a focus on the terminal, ground access, aircraft parking/configuration, and automobile parking. This is a great opportunity to incorporate a graphic or two into your paper (terminal design, access roads, etc.). The report should be a minimum of two pages in length (not including the reference page and graphics). Progress Check on Week 4, By this time you will have written until this part.
· Airport Layout Plan – Include it if you were able to find it for your airport and you have the technical skills to insert it into the paper.

· Airport Security Program – You are going to describe your project airport’s security program and define its AOA, secure and sterile areas, and SIDA. You may take one of the various approaches: Either contact or visit your airport seeking the information you need or search the library. Your paper should clearly reflect your knowledge of the airport’s security program and defined its security areas. Progress Check on Week 5, By this time you will have written until this part.
· Budget and s – You are to prepare a budget for your airport. Given the nature of this Course, and with the understanding that any airport budget, for even the smallest of facilities, cannot be prepared in one week’s time, you are not expected to prepare a detailed budget nor the analysis that always accompanies one. However, you have acquired enough insight into both your selected airport and the working process of developing an operating budget and a capital budget for you to easily prepare a budget worksheet that addresses the key financial components of revenue and expenses meeting the minimum requirements to support your airport for the next fiscal year. Your paper should include two tables one for operating and one for capital and each should have the various components of expenses and revenues as well as a description of each source of revenue and the purpose of each expense line item. Use what you have learnt in your previous accounting course. Progress Check on Week 6, By this time you will have written until this part.
· Airport Planning – Describe the various types of airport planning studies and identify the focus of each type of study. You may take one of two approaches in preparing this paper. Either contact or visit your airport seeking the information you need or using the knowledge you’ve gleaned to date, make educated assumptions about your airport. In either case, your paper should clearly reflect your knowledge of this module’s topics. Progress Check on Week 7, By this time you will have written until this part.
· Airport Economic, Political, and Social Role – Describe the economic, political, and social role your airport plays in its community. Write your paper using the knowledge you’ve gained and from research on your airport. Your paper should clearly reflect your knowledge of this module’s topics along with the additional research.
