Shawcor Project Schedule

Introduction

Project scheduling involves projects tasks, projects resources, activity duration, calendar, and team members of the orderly arranged timetable. The project schedule also arranges the entire project milestones to ensure that all project activities are executed in time and within the projected budget. Essentially, the project schedule aids planning and management of the project management (Ke, 2015).

Project Overview

The Shawcor company staged a project specifically meant to aid or help solve the problems associated with the attraction and maintenance of appropriate talents in the company to aid production services in the organization. The project also aimed at establishing the most sensible or the most reasonable way in economic terms and time discipline to ensure that the company does not strain its resources to blow back the profits.
Consequently, the project or the entire exercise will be staged in the headquarters of the Shawcor company, which is physically located in Houston, Texas. The project’s timeframe is expected to last for six months with an approximation or projected budget of 1.45 million dollars.

Project Schedule Tasks

Project schedule tasks are arranged chronologically to enable project managers to execute the tasks at the right time and within the allocated time. Arranged tasks also help project managers to ensure a smooth operation through the entire project exercise and efficient utilization of project resources.

Notes on the Activities

Designing a consent letter.

· Designing a consent letter took an approximation of two days whereby the expert judgement, comparative and top-down estimation methods were employed to arrive at the estimated time.
· Experience and SMEs were employed during the process of basis estimates.
· However, the actual duration may vary from the estimated duration due to the number of project resources involved.

Acquiring transport van.

· The bottom-up and expert judgment method was used to determine the duration it takes for the transport van involved in the research to be acquired.
· The basis of estimated incorporated is the vendor quote which enabled the research to arrive at the designated vans to meet the transport errands.
· The reason for variations in the number of estimated vans is the number of selected or recruited project resources.

Recruitment process.

· The expert judgment method was used to estimate the number of days it may take to recruit the necessary human capital resources, which is four days.
· Experience method was as a basis of estimate in approximating the number of days.
· However, the duration it takes may vary from the actual duration since the method relies on judgments. (Johnston, 2017)

Issuing of consent letters.

· Analogous estimation methods were used to estimate the amount of duration necessary for issuing consent letters. Additionally, the basis of the estimation method is SME which gave an additional time estimate which was 2 days.
· However, the duration estimated may a good change or differ from the actual time due to the analogous method estimating methods.

The signing of consent letters by the project resources.

· The top-down method of estimation was employed to identify the number of days required during the exercise of signing the consent by the project resources, which takes three days.
· The basis of estimation applied is the experience that also aided the arrival of the exercise duration.
· The reason for the differences in the estimations and the actual days is the number of project resources, which varies from the ones that were previously used (Baccarini, 2004).

Collection of primary data.

· The estimation method used to arrive at the duration of primary data collection, a week, is the top-down method and the experience basis of estimate.
· However, the estimated duration may vary due to the number of project resources, which is not as used by the past researchers.

Collection of secondary data.

· Analogous or comparative estimation method and SME basis of estimation were employed to determine the duration that secondary data analysis takes in the research.
· Consequently, the estimated results may differ from the actual results due to the methods applied to reach the estimated duration (Cerpa, 2016).

Acquisition of social hall facility.

· The acquisition process of the public social hall is projected to last for three days which was arrived at through the use of the parametric model estimating method and the vendor quote basis estimation method.
· The estimated results may significantly differ from the actual duration due to the number of project resources, which may not be the same as that used by the method applied.

Identifying project sponsors.

· The method of the parametric model was used in combination with the experience basis of estimation to give rise to the duration it takes for the research to identify the project sponsor, which lasted for three days.
· However, the estimated time varies from the actual time of the number of resources required by the research study.

Assigning interviewers experts.

· The estimating method of expert judgment was used to identify the duration the project requires to assign the interviewers expert their roles, whereby the basis estimation method of SME was also used.
· The duration takes the research manager to assign the interviewers experts is three days.
· However, the estimated time varies from the actual duration as a result of the methods applied.

Assigning questionnaires experts.

· The method used to estimate the duration of assigning the questionnaires experts to the field is bottom-up, and the SME basis of estimation and projected time is three days.
· However, the real-time it takes is different from the one projected, which happens due to number of project resources and other staff involved.

Selection of project resources.

· The method used is bottom-up in selecting the project resources. A process involving inclusive and exclusive project resources lasted five days in combination with the experience basis estimation.
· Significantly, the projected duration might be different from the actual duration due to the type of experiments and the methods of data collection.

Project Milestones

· Approval of the consent letter by the Institutional Board Review (IRB) which signals the start of the work and data analysis.
· Approval of the project budgets by the finance officer and the department of finance and other project sponsors such as the (CFC).
· The approval of the third-party association on the project activities, including the use of public facilities to actualize the project.
· Recruitment of project resources whereby inclusive and exclusive criteria techniques were observed.
