A patient died after her third cerebral hemorrhage. When the patient was admitted to the hospital following a cerebral hemorrhage, her physician determined that she should be given a specific drug to reduce her blood pressure and make her condition operable, and he directed its administration. For an unexplained reason, the drug was not administered. The patient’s blood pressure rose, and after another hemorrhage, the patient died.

When considering negligence suits, there is a in depth investigation that needs to occur in order to place blame.  In the brief explanation of the case, it would be difficult to determine as there is not enough evidence provided.  At this point it would be a matter of assumption of the things that occurred that ultimately led to the death of the patient.  As stated in the example, there was a negligence of not administering the medication that was directed to be given by the physician.  This would be the idea of what was neglected.  Whether it was the physician who didn’t follow up to ensure the medication was given and at what time or any part of his staff that failed to administer the medication, ultimately this could have been what led to the untimely death of the patient.  There could also just been an underlining issue that the patient had that even if the medication was administered, death may have occurred anyhow. 
If the defendant was found to be negligent, a compensation could be paid to the family for the loss and the hospital bill could be covered by the hospital.
