Specific Informative Purpose: To inform my audience about Obesity in the United States.

INTRODUCTION

I. Overweight is a common case within the United states that continue to increase on an annual basis based on the poor eating and health habits of most people within the society. According to the health department 36.5% adults within the united states are overweight creating a major health concern in the country.
II. Understanding the key reasons as to why most people within the country are obese is a health issue that needs to be given the appropriate considerations based on the health implications that they have.
III. The people that come from low-income countries are the ones that are most affected with cases of obesity making it a top priority to address the issue within the community.
IV. My speech is going to address the three aspects of obesity that is important for the community to understand in order to take up appropriate action that is focused on the creation of better precautions.
A. Firstly, I will explain the key reasons behind the increase in obesity within the American society.
B. Secondly, I will explain negative implications that comes when a person becomes overweight in terms of health and diseases.
C. Thirdly, I would explain the measures that can be taken to present the obesity cases in the society.
Let’s begin by looking at the reason behind the increase in cases of obesity.

BODY

I. Reasons for obesity
A. Obesity cases increases within the United States based on poverty.
1. Individuals that live in impoverished regions have poor access to fresh food. People in America who live in the most poverty-dense counties are those most prone to obesity.
2. The inability of the people to afford a balanced diet leads to them consuming food that is high in calories leading to the increase in the cases of obesity among most minority communities in the country (Ford and Victor 177).
B. Lack of exercise
1. Not getting enough physical activity can lead to heart disease and other risk factors, including obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes.
2. Poor active school and work environments, that gives students and employees limited room to exercise contributing to increased cases of obesity in different parts of the country.
As explained, one understands the main reason behind the increased cases of obesity in the country, getting a reflection of its implications gives one the broader picture that is needed about the condition.
II. The risk of developing chronic diseases.
A. Diabetes
1. Obesity leads to the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes, in fact, obesity is believed to account for 80%-85% of the risk of developing type II diabetes.
2. The lack of exercise leads to the development of illnesses that affects the general health of a person on a long-term basis.
B. The development of hypertension
1. Research points out that 67%b of diabetic individuals are affected with hypertension pointing out that it is a key health concern that needs to be given a wider consideration (Moini 132).
2. Based on populations studies, risk estimates indicate that at least two – thirds of the prevalence of hypertension can be directly attributed to obesity. Obesity is an independent risk factor for the development and progression of hypertension.
After understanding the risk factors that are associated with obesity it is important to take up proactive action to ensure that the cases of obesity within the country are reduced.
III. Reducing the cases of obesity within the country
A. Healthy lifestyle
1. Engage patient and family and provide education about self-management. Deliver support, identify lifestyle changes, and collaboratively set goals.
2. Recommend the increased of physical activity and promote balanced diet that includes many lower energy density foods are the keys to treat overweight.
B. Civic education
1. Educating the members of the society about the implications obesity is an important approach that is focused on increasing health awareness in the community in a positive way. It is focused on ensuring that only positive results are provided (Ford and Victor 177).
2. The education could be offered to all academic institutions and social centers to ensure that each person is aware of the ailment that is a factor that needs to be given the required attention based on the outcome that it is likely to have to the society.

CONCLUSION

I. Understanding the causes, implication and prevention measures that can be taken to control obesity is an important action that needs to be addressed based on the positive impacts that it has to the society.
II. The duty of the society and health authorities is ensuring that less or no people fall victims to obesity by guaranteeing that a healthy lifestyle is a main priority of the society.
III. Obesity in the United States is a major health issue resulting in numerous diseases like a certain type of cancer, coronary artery disease, stroke, type II of diabetes, etc. The focus is ensuring that obesity is completely tackled in the society.
