Personal Response on Luck’s The resurrection of Jesus (Luke 23:26-Luke 24:53)

Planning my Exegesis Paper
The story I will interpret is:

The resurrection of Jesus (Luke 23:26-Luke 24:53)

My big impression from this story is (2-3 themes):

1. Although Jesus had been crucified with other criminals by people, he still asked the Father to forgive them.

2. Jesus’s followers who followed him from Galilee never defended him and even stood at a distance with him.

I get this impression from (evidence and key words from the story) (5-6 items):
1. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[

b

] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

2. When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away. 49 But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

3. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16 but they were kept from recognizing him.

4. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

5. While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

6. He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

7. Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

I’m going to focus on (Highlight one): Characters/Events/Symbols/Other____________

My thesis:

The resurrection of Jesus in Luke 23:26- 24:53(NIV) reveals the nature of Lord Jesus’s great forgiveness through the untrust of he is Lord Jesus, the forgiveness demonstrated by Load Jesus, and the peaceful mind of Lord Jesus when he has risen from dead.

For A=B (Background Paragraph), I need to consider:

· Genre: The resurrection of Jesus

· Author: Jesus in the Book of Luke (Author is Luke)

· Historical Context (3-4 items):
· Luke was writing this book as a historical account. (Citation)

· Luke was a physician who lived in the Greek city of Antioch in Ancient Syria (Citation)

· Luke did not know Jesus personally, instead he became a Christian through the Apostle Paul

· The context of the story was that Jesus was talking to both sinners (Roman tax collectors and others) and Pharisees (Jewish Politicians/Scholars) & the Sadducees (Jewish yers/Teacher of the )

· Important names and events in the story (3-4 items):
· When Lord Jesus crucified there and both followers, rulers, other criminals mocked him.
· Even though he is dead in that brutal way, he still chooses to forgive those people.
· When Lord Jesus has risen from dead, he has chosen to have dinner with those people.
· The ascension of Jesus.

Conclusion:(check one and discuss)
