COU 650 Final Project One Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
The final project for this course is a continuation of the case conceptualization you started in COU 610. For this final project, you will create and submit the
diagnosis section of the case conceptualization. The final product represents an authentic demonstration of competency because as a counselor, you will be
asked to create a diagnosis based on a biopsychosocial assessment and what you know about a client. The project is divided into three drafts, which will be
submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. After each draft, you will incorporate instructor
feedback using the track changes feature in Microsoft Word. You will submit your final product, including the tracked changes, in Week Nine. The drafts will be
submitted in Weeks Two, Four, and Six.
In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:
● COU-650-01: Determine the role of diagnosis of emotional and mental health disorders in clients for its impact on treatment.
● COU-650-02: Justify diagnoses based on relative evidence to accurately diagnose emotional and mental health disorder in clients.
● COU-650-03: Evaluate the role of biological factors as they relate to emotional and mental health disorders while making a diagnosis.
● COU-650-05: Determine appropriate ethical and cultural considerations in diagnosis of emotional and mental health disorders in clients.
Prompt

Drafts
Draft One: Biopsychosocial Form
In Week Two, you will submit a biopsychosocial form using the client’s assessment results. This draft will be graded with the Draft One Rubric.
3
Draft Two: Biopsychosocial Summary
In Week Four you will submit a summary of the biopsychosocial. This draft will be graded with the Draft Two Rubric.
Draft Three: Justification
In Week Six, you will submit a draft of the justification for your diagnosis. This draft will be graded with the Draft Three Rubric.
Final Submission: Diagnosing
In Week Nine, you will submit your final project. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It should
reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This submission will be graded with the Final Project One Rubric.
