Traditional Research

Traditional research involves face-to-face interaction between the researcher and a participant to allow the participants’ verbal feedback and capture their emotional reaction. Therefore, research is not just limited to reading books, journals, and other written material. While information from other knowledgeable and experienced personnel about a given topic is essential, obtaining one-on-one information helps provide current and accurate data. Besides, researchers must be keen to identify the right personnel/target market to ensure they gather knowledge that can test educational theories.

Traditional research offers much more than is provided in the academic syllabus because it gives an insight into the “not so obvious” aspects of how things function in the literary world. Researchers can gather more information as well as have a better insight into possible career opportunities. Therefore, research conferences are not limited to academics. Still, they focus on the subject topic while providing a better understanding of the importance of the subject matter after completing an individual’s academics. This in mind, there is always something new to learn from traditional research as compared to reading already existing information from print sources (Mata, Latham, & Ransome, 2010).

Research is better placed when individuals of similar interests contribute to the research project. While several individuals may contribute towards a given subject, it is evident that people with similar interests are more reliable (Ridde & Mohrinda, 2009). For example, during the Corona Virus pandemic, a researcher can approach doctors from a specific hospital. However, approaching doctors who come into contact with Corona Virus patients. A general doctor will provide an overall knowledge of the subject matter, but a doctor who specializes in such patients will provide in-depth information that is more reliable.

Impact of Joining into Traditional Research Scholar Communities

Traditional research scholar communities believe in acquiring resources from a broader perspective of a specific subject. These communities look at the information that applies directly to the classroom setting and test the particular field’s proposed educational theories. While this system is advantageous, especially in progressive areas that change and develop over time, such as the medical field, it comes with both benefits and challenges.

From a personal perspective, it is advantageous to join traditional research scholar communities due to the positive exposure that accompanies the research. It is one thing to read through previous research content to obtain knowledge, but it is another thing to interact and gather current and more relevant information (Mata, Latham, & Ransome, 2010). An individual can achieve this by mingling with personnel and experts of similar interests. This aspect does not only build research proposals, but it also helps to transition better into the career field because of relevant and adequate knowledge. These communities are also up to date on current events and situations in their study area, thus leaving a positive impact.

Research scholar communities can be time-consuming and exhaustive, considering the high number of participants the researcher has to meet. Keep in mind that meeting is not enough, considering that the researcher must carry out conversations with each potential participant. In many cases, accessing the relevant participants is challenging because of several reasons. Sometimes, these people target many other researchers, making it difficult for you to talk to them. It can also be overwhelming when addressing crowds compared to sitting on a desk and completing research via print or written material (Ridde & Mohrinda, 2009).

Tradition research remains an effective way of gathering qualitative data and information for researchers. The traditional study provides relevant and up to date information for scholars in higher education institutions and individuals seeking to better their career objectives. Face-to-face interactions gather both verbal and emotional reactions to a subject matter, thus improving content quality by reducing biasness.

Self-Reflection on Research design

Abdullah Alshawi

Alliant International University

In this self-reflection, I have presented my recent development regarding conducting researches based on the content presented in week five. To begin with, research involves a systematic investigation into study materials and other relevant sources to develop conclusions that have not been made in the future (Mitchell & Jolley, 2012). However, it is a requirement for every research to understand the research practice for them to produce surmountable research results. I have been made aware that researching is a narrative life such that the individual conducting the research seeks to apply their intellectual skills to make discoveries and develop meaning and solutions to much needed for problems at hand. According to Calder et al. (1981), an attempt for research requires correspondence procedures and theory-based interventions that the researcher uses to drive their explanations.

The concept presented in week five has influenced my understanding of research because I have learnt that the essence of research is not about the elegance or the presentation of the subject of study but instead how easily other people can interpret the conclusion made in the research. As a researcher, I must bring together all the productive insights to foster the likelihood of influencing the other people’s choice and justification of the topic. I can associate the readers’ perspective from my personal experiences when conducting my studies. I often find that it is easy to get the point from some of the work of previous researchers while it is hard to find the intent of some of the researches. The fact remains that you must be a scholar in the topic of study before embarking on research on essential studies in that field. I have analyzed so many dissertations and research projects. Still, I can attest that authors will score differently in the criterion that they use to describe explicitly how they identified the research and indicate the conditions that they used for inclusions and exclusions.

Two aspects of the research process have proved to be the most critical in the life of a researcher, i.e., effect application, and theory application. The primary goal of every research is to conclude the topic of study. To conclude, you must have a coherent framework that leads to a particular decision. This is the part that the literature review comes in handy. I am surprised that many researchers overlook the essence of the literature review. According to Boote et al. (2005), the literature review is guidance worth heeding as provides a summarization of the whole scope of work and previous research abstracted. I find the literature review as the section that presents the ongoing dialogue of the research process. The conclusion is the impact of the research and can be used to obtain findings in previous researches. Effect application, according to Calder et al. (1981), is the desire to acquire enough knowledge about the topic of study. This involves bringing together all events and relationships that might help in demystifying the particular situation. When I look at my past journey, it has been a rollercoaster of fails and rebirths because I often generalize theoretical frameworks when deducing the patterns of outcomes. It has become clear to me that my previous premise is insufficient, and I will need to develop correspondence procedures that align with the research setting and can potentially produce effects on the situation of interest.

On the other hand, theory application is the desire to apply scientific finding that explains real-wide situations. This involves creating content from the effects application identified in the first step and measuring its eventual results. Therefore, good research must prove how the chosen theory contributes to the adequacy of the research in a way that it can pass any falsification test when needed. In conclusion, week five has presented me with the abstract summary of the most crucial constructs that will apply throughout my life as a researcher. A proper application of the two concepts in the research setting will enable me to produce leading outcomes from research studies.

Professional Survey

Abdullah Alshawi

  1. How surveys can be used in my professional work

It is essential to conduct research surveys in the professional world to improve business state through projects. Surveys are a necessary tool in the work environment; they provide information that enables professionals to assess information that corporations can use for present and future reference. In my professional work, surveys can be used for better decision-making, job specialization, and competitive advantage.

  1. Intended outcomes

Better decision making in projects leads to a series of success in company projects through better choices by the firms’ top management. Making better choices and communications help in profit-making through maximum resource utilization. Job specialization is when the company focuses on training employees in distinct specific areas to master those skills. When a company practices job specialization, it improves employees’ productivity through their advanced skills. The company also creates a competitive advantage by carrying out surveys that help improve customer relationships.

  1. Set of survey Questions.
  2. What are your views on the customer service desk?
  3. How do you relate to your current job description?
  4. What characteristics of our products do you feel needs changing?
  5. Are our resources convenient?

5) What structural changes would you recommend we implement, and why?

6) How do you find this firm appropriate for your needs?

  1. Survey

Survey on employee satisfaction

This survey is aimed at identifying the employee perception of organizations’ conduct concerning production. The survey is confidential, and no names are supposed to be indicated. The views of the employees are essential in decision making in this firm.

The survey will take approximately ten minutes to complete. Answer with Yes or NO.

Questions

  1. Are you satisfied with your current job post?
  2. Do you feel you can work better in specialized environments?
  3. Are the resources provided convenient?
  4. Are there changes you perceive concerning plant and equipment?

Quantitative Research

Name: Abdullah Alshawi

In last week’s concepts, we learned about big data and how they influence consumer research. Big data is one of the most misunderstood and distorted terms in the marketing industry. Big data can be used to achieve various things. It can be used to detect fraud, competitive analysis, and intelligent traffic management and manage power grids. Big data is comprised of three major factors: velocity, variety, and volume. Volume is the amount of data provided; velocity is the speed of data that flows in and out, while variety is the range or the type of data that has been provided. There are various types of big data, which include: prescriptive, descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive big data.

In the modern-day, consumers are smart and have their priorities set. Before they make any purchase, they compare different things and way their options. Consumers are using search engines and social media to reach out to various businesses and get their feedback on various issues. As a sales and marketing person, I will use big data to help me analyze such consumers. The information learned will enable me to engage clients in a far-reaching manner. It will also enable me to engage consumers in real time conversations. It will enable me to reach out to consumers and treat them according to their desires. I have also learned that consumers’ preferences and desires also determine a lot. The aspects influence their behaviors.

Information technology has changed how things operate. Every information in our daily lives demands to be backed up with scientific accuracy. In my field, marketing, quantitative research can be used to help produce excellent results. It can be used to measure various variables that determine the profitability of an organization. It can be used to analyze market trends and report them. It can also be used to influence the decision-making process. Most managers need to back up their decisions, and quantitative research can help them achieve that. It can also be used to analyze various gaps both in the organization and the market. It can be used to predict future trends in products and services. Therefore, quantitative research offers marvelous help while studying samples and populations.
