Introduction:

    Horizon Food Company is a healthy food production company, whose vision encompasses: “Improving the nation’s health status through a healthy diet.” The company’s mission entails improving the health of the community in light of the growing concern on the increasing rate of obesity in the country as well as the health risk factors associated with the disorder (Martenies et al. 2017). Hence, as a new company in the food sector, it aims to promote its array of healthy food products by holding a food booth event at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. The event will be carried out on the first weekend of the next month, which is when the school will have resumed learning after the Christmas Festivities. Horizon Food Company aims to leverage the food booth event in strengthening its marketing mix.

“Food promotes culture; culture promotes learning and intercultural bonds” (Ghimire & Chowdhury, 2014). Hence, the food booth event aims to educate PMU staff and students on the importance of a healthy diet as well as what comprises a healthy and balanced diet. The food booth event will introduce students to the company’s healthy food products, where the company will be able to establish a customer base consisting of the school’s students and staff. Moreover, the significance of the food booth event is to further enhance customer loyalty made of a few students and staff aware of our healthy foods product range Furthermore, the importance of the food booth event is to show students the need to diversify their food options towards healthier options.

The Horizon food booth event will entail a fun-filled, insightful, and innovative healthy food campaign that will promote traditional food, cooking skills, as well as heritage of the Arab society. The core theme of the food festival will “to promote and inherit Arabian traditional food culture and cooking skills to the community as well as the world”. Based on its core theme, it is evident that the food booth event features an extensive scope that not only supports healthy diet among the students and staff at PMU, but also scholarly aspects that entail promoting the learning and understanding of the diverse Arabian food culture.

Moreover, the Horizon food booth event will enrich PMU students’ and staff’s experience in healthy diet and food choices since, it will showcase various traditional Arabian food product samples that will introduce them to our product offerings as well have a taste of the company’s food product offerings. Generally, Horizon Food Company aims to comprehensively use the opportunity to educate as well as introduce the staff and student’s population of PMU to adopt a healthy food diet through our diverse healthy traditional food products.

Before the Event:

    The preparation of the event will involve sending out e-mails of invitation to COBA Dean and Chair (if they are attending) as well as event plan manual that will enable them to understand what the food booth event aims to achieve in the university. Moreover, The COBA Dean and chair will be emailed copies of the promotional materials, which will consist of banners and posters that will be environmental friendly. This is aimed at enabling them review the food booth event so as to receive their approval and support in making the event a success in the school. Upon approval, the food booth event organizers will be emailed the details and theme of the event so as to begin their planning on the event. This will involve printing promotional banners as well as begin a social media campaign targeting the students and staff on the occurrence of the food booth event.

As well, the company and event organizers will recruit volunteers and ushers to ensure that the event is carried out in a formal and successful manner. Training on the particular services shall be done in preparation for the event, so as to ensure that the event is carried out in a smooth manner. Moreover, this is aimed at ensuring that the event is carried out in a professional manner, which one of the company’s core values. As well, collaboration is important to the company’s ability to succeed, thus the ushers, volunteers, and the company’s management will work closely to address all possible mishaps as well as the overall running of the event.

Additionally, other direct marketing methods will be applied to ensure that our communication on the event will be utilized including advertisement of the event in the university’s popular magazine. Since the event shall also be considered as a way that the company establishes a good relationship with the community, the proceeds of the event will fund the university’s cafeteria as well as agricultural activities. This will be an act of corporate social responsibility, whereby it aims to establish a strong customer base in the university.

In general, the food booth festival will play an important role in promoting local Arabian traditional foods as well as catering industry. Furthermore, the food booth event will be localized in context, whereby it will mainly feature various local Arabian cuisines served around the region. Moreover, the food booth event will stand out as a lucrative business strategy for promoting domestic, as well as the Horizon’s, catering services as well as cuisines.

 During the event:

At this point we’re going to have everything ready and prepared our staff members to deal with any difficulties we face during the event. The event will take place in the empty area in front if the main gate. To start, we will take each of participants to their respective booth. At the start of the event a short speech will be given to start to event and to move the atmosphere a little and get everyone exited to start. The event will start after the speech and all participants and guests will start doing their parts in keeping the event going and fun for everyone. We have two small activities mid event that are eating contest and musical show to help make the event more enjoyable and make the atmosphere feel more livable instead of just people cooking and others eating. At this point we would have reached the end of the day, it’s time to collect the general opinion on which booth had the better food to pick a winner.

 

Things we need to monitor during the event:

  • All booths are following our safety instructions: to prevent any fires or food poisoning, we need to make sure all participants are using the cooking equipment will all safety measures and using clean equipment to prevent any sort of food poisoning.
  • Security: In case anything goes wrong our security staff are ready in case something goes wrong or an unexpected issue occurs such as: fighting, fires, or power goes off. Also, the general behavior
  • Medical attention: in events like these it is likely to have food poisoning or allergy incidents which need immediate medical attention. That’s why we have a medical team there pay attention to the general health and help anyone who faces any medical difficulties in the event.
  • Eating contest: This contest will be held in a randomly selected booth for two or more participants from the guests that will compete who eats their meal faster which would make spectators laugh and enjoy the event even more.
  • Musical show: We hired a social media influencers who are known for their talent with musical instruments to play music form different cultures to add please the audience ears while they’re eating and talking.

 

After the Event:
